Hi Ian,
I was brought up in Fence Houses and still love the place
I can remember a deaf and dumb gentleman called Eddie Bowman used to always drink in the Comrades Club lovely bloke although very firery at times

Shirley, you are right. The first unfinished house is in Acacia Avenue. The Tipladys lived there initially and over the road from them, just in view in Avenue Vivian, the first family were the Galleys. Mr Cummins made great bakery products, particularly his white bread and buns.

Hi Doris, Iv’e known a Derek Greenwell for 45 years, When his dad Certie or Sertie Greenwell was alive they lived in Grange Avenue, then moved to Colliery row next to the petrol garage at Chilton Moor. Derek has 2 brothers & a sister, Alan is the oldest, can’t remember the other lads name, the sister was called Freda. They still live near Chilton moor. Derek and his dad worked at the Lambton Coke Works.

I think the white un finished house is Acacia Ave which bends around and goes up to Mr Cummings shop. Ravensworth Ave would have been built to the left of the white house (not built yet) Yes it is Penshaw monument in the distance

I think this is looking at Avenue Vivian (facing) and the (white) half built house is Ravensworth Ave (Tipladies house – related to the Slack’s). The rubbish on the right is in the front gardens of the(to be built) old peoples terraced bungalows.
