PC Hugh Dundas
I have been a serving police officer for 26 years, during this time I worked for the Metropolitan Police for six years. I transferred to Northumbria Police in 1987.
For the past 16 years I have been working on a 24/7 reactive shift in the Houghton Le Spring area. I have been in my current role as Neighbourhood Beat Manager (NBM) for Fencehouses for the past two years.
Having primarily worked in the Houghton area, I have a good knowledge of the issues relevant to the area.
My role of Neighbourhood Beat Manager is to:
- Meet the needs of my local community and preserve the protection of life and property.
- Maintain the peace, reduce and prevent crime.
I work with partners, including Gentoo Sunderland Housing Group and Sunderland City Council and more recently Barnado’s Brancepath North East region, to find long-term to solutions to local crime and disorder issues.
My aim is to improve and maintain a good quality of life for residents and businesses in the area.
